J & G Meakin Romantic England…

Hello everyone! As promised, I am bringing out more English transferware.  Today it’s J & G Meakin “Romantic England” in red!

I am so excited about this pattern! Seeing them is like stepping back in time to another place. And I can tell you that the men in my life, my husband and father absolutely love these plates. My dad’s ancestry is very English, so I can see why he likes it. My Puerto Rican husband, however, I’m not sure about!

You can read about Meakin pottery HERE. The dinner plates feature “Haddon Hall.” Below is a newer plate, which is a bit different than the older one below it.

I just love these delicate coffee/tea cups! The cups feature “Ann Hathaway’s cottage” Shottery, while the saucer features the “Holy Trinity Church” Stratford-on-Avon.

I used the same double runners I made for the Spode Woodland table a few weeks ago.  I really think the large candlesticks and vintage basket keep it modern. The hydrangeas are from this summer.

The crystal is Durand Cristal D’Arques “Longchamp” and the flatware is my Wallace “Louvre.” I thought the floral pattern would go well with the china. I used my Landers/Frary/Clark mother of pearl and sterling knives for something different.

You will also notice the Mikasa “Italian Countryside” dinner plates I used as chargers. The beautiful thing about these plates is that they are large enough to use under older, smaller dinner plates. I use them a lot as chargers.

The napkins I picked up on ebay last year. These are the only ones I have like this. I usually borrow from my mom’s extensive collection of beautiful vintage linens.

A few night shots during the “blue hour.”

You might have noticed the corner looks different! We have been working on the china cabinet Luis is making. It still does not have doors, but we needed to fit it, and it is too large to go back out! I will be doing all the finishing in the house. I cannot wait for it to be done! He used reclaimed wood, a tree (really) and chestnut mouldings from my great grandfather’s house here. In the meantime, I am using it as extra storage.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate so much all of your well wishes and prayers for my mom. She is doing really well, and is already planning her garden for summer!

I hope you enjoyed my red transferware table this week! I hope to have a St. Patrick’s table with mother’s Noritake “Condoro” for next week. Take care and thanks so much for your visit!!

Anita

I’ll be joining Rednesday at It’s a Very Cherry World for the first time and  Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch, so be sure to go by and visit!

I, too, adore red transferware. We use our Copeland Spode, "Tower Pink" all the time. It carries so many precious family memories with it. You scored high points for those eBay linen napkins…gorgeous! I'm excited to see the finished cabinet…an amazing blessing that your husband has the skills to give you such a beautiful piece. I know that you must be sending prayer and praise arrows toward heaven now that your mom is doing better. Answered prayer is always so sweet. Thank you for sharing your wonderful design…lovely as always. Cherry Kay

Anita, Just speechless about your table top and dining room. I love the contrast of wood with sterling flatware place settings and fine napkins and the red service. I appreciate you always show us the back stamp on your dishes and identify the table top components. God Bless your husband and your creative hands. The cabinet is wonderful at this stage. The English ware color and scalloped edges are beautiful. Many wonderful memories at this table I wish you all. So happy about your Mother's recovery. She had her loving daughter at her side.Bless you all! Thank you for showing us your table,Emelia:).

So pretty Anita! As always your tablescape is just devine! I am especially drawn to your runners. I have that same plaid fabric on a runner that I made years ago, but I think mine is smaller. If I am correct the rose and greens are so soft and warm and are perfect to go with your dishes! Mostly, I love how you added a second runner that has a bit of the plaid with the floral and of course the pleated ruffle. I am so inspired! I may try this design with some different fabrics I have that I have been wanting to use. It's such a great look! Thanks for sharing!

This is beautiful dinnerware, Anita! I love your hydrangeas in the basket, too. I have faux ones that I was wondering how I could re-use them and this looks like a nice simple arrangement that I may just copy from you. : ) Need to check my basket stash! I also noticed your table runners. I just made a new one, longer and wider than a toile one I had out and I think I can layer them like yours, as I really didn't want to choose between them. This way I could use both!

If I didn't know better, I would have thought that this beautiful table was sitting in a house in the English countryside! Those plates are gorgeous, and those cups with the cottage on them are ones that I would love to drink my tea out of every day. Your home is so lovely, and you are definitely living the good life!

Bring me a heart pill! LOL! A new red transferware to LOVE and I do! That is so interesting what is written on the back. I've never seen this before. I love what you placed with the transfer. Love the runner and basket with hydrangeas. Don't think I would have thought to try that. I truly love how it all looks together. I still want to get one of the gospel CD's you suggestion. Didn't know about your mom, but happy to hear she is doing better.

I have that same pattern! I absolutely love it, but don't use it as often as I should. Your beautiful table has inpired me to dust it off and enjoy it!

I was wondering if you have the bread and butter plates. They are my absolute favorite. They feature a small group deer in front of a 13th century castle. They are so charming!

First time visitor! Love your table setting and the table itself! The Mikasa Italian Countryside dinnerware lends itself to a lot! I used it myself recently. Your transferware and the pictures depicted are wonderful. I have a whole bag of dried hydrangeas I need to incorporate some of them into a centerpiece too! I like the mix of the mother of pearl knife with the other silverware..great ideas!
