Hi everyone! I know… two posts in a week from me is crazy. I really have been trying to get back in the swing of things because I love sharing things I’m doing around the house. I wanted to share a tablescape, which is the very reason I started blogging in the first place. This one is very simple, rustic and elegant, and I brought “the box” back just for Kathryn at Take My Breath Away.
The rhododendrons here are just gorgeous and full of blooms this year and I wanted to use them inside. I brought back the box and placed them in mason jars.
This fabric is by Portfolio Textiles and is similar to one I fell in love with last year which started my love affair with blue. I made the runner with and added a feedsack ruffle, and I have layered it over a ruffled feedsack runner turned upside down.
I’m using Mikasa’s Italian Countryside dinnerware and flatware with vintage Colony/Indiana Glass “Whitehall” iced tea glasses in pink. I think the table still has a vintage feel even though the dinnerware and flatware are new.
This is such a simple table for a family dinner, but I really think all the elements together make it elegant at the same time.
I love my feedsack ruffles. The fabric is so soft.
Did you notice my new color on the walls???? I LOVE this blue:-) It is “Secluded Guestroom” and is by Colorplace at Walmart. One coat of this covered the red. I have used this brand of paint a lot, and I really like how it covers and wears.
I searched and searched for the perfect shade of blue that had that 1950s aqua feel which I so love in the vintage pyrex and melmac dinnerware. I love it with the gray trim on the doors also. I’m thinking the upper kitchen cabinets will get a lighter shade of the same gray.
I thought about covering or at least slipcovering the Duncan Phyfe chairs, but I really want that summer getaway feel where everything is not too matched. They need to stay dark in any case because we have three children! The corner cabinet is still filled with vintage treasures from my grandfather’s store. I think my grandmother would be smiling if she could see all the things I have of hers:-)
Summer is in full swing here in the mountains and we have really been enjoying beautiful weather getting a few things done outside also. Hopefully, the chicken coup will be finished today and the chicks can enjoy their new home. It’s really looking like a farm around here! Thanks so much for stopping by and for the sweet comments. I really do enjoy them. I’ll be linking up to Tablescape Thursday, so be sure to go by there for a visit.

Love the blue as well – really lightens up the room!
A very pretty table and I love the blue color of the walls!
just breathtaking Anita, the blue you chose is refreshing but still an antique, vintage feel to me….like in old grand Victorians….it will blend and add to your gorgeous dish, table top collections…….I love the linen, crochet trimmed napkins, your grandparents are both very happy…..and watching over you:)You have beautiful ideas that you work into reality so quickly. You and and family are amazing all you do and do for….Bless.
Love it all girl! WANT ME A BOX NOW! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I love the blue, although I always loved the vibrant rust and reds (my colors ;-)). Lovely tablescape as always. xo
I'm always happy when you use the "magic box". You've gotten such amazing mileage from that special piece. The new blue and trim color (I think it a new trim color…maybe just the lighting) are yummy….quite romantic. Love your design work, as always, and I'm glad to find you tablescaping with us again. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
One of my favorite colors. It's gorgeous!
I love your new blue – and I love the runners. You inspire me. I'm heading to a big fabric store later today to get fabric for a quilt for our new granddaughter who will arrive in a couple of months. While I'm there I MUST look for fabrics for some table runners. Hmmm. . .wonder if they have feed sack fabric! π

I love what you do with that box on your dining table!
Anita, what a lovely tablescape; and it ties in with the blue so nicely! LOVE that box of yours! I love seeing how you change it up with your tablescapes!
I love your shade of blue, it is my fav shade and your dining room looks fabulous, it brings out your wood furnishings so much more!! I adore your tablescape, such pretty setting and so warm and inviting. Hugs,

Oh Anita!!!! I absolutely love the blue! It looks stunning! It just transformed your room to a whole new feeling and is perfect with all your pieces!! Thanks for bringing "the box" back for me!! If it is ever missing… Don't look at my house! I know you are busy but it is so nice to see you! You are doing such amazing things with your music and ministry!
Hooray for the return of "the box"!!!!! It's such a cool centerpiece foundation! I love the rustic yet polished look of it. Something else I really love is the way you layered your runners. Beautiful! And you made them!!! Feed sacks, huh? Maybe I should start hanging out at the farm store more often! Hooray for your newly painted walls, too! They look fantastic!
Anita, I LOVE the new blue walls! What a gorgeous shade. Your table centerpiece is beautiful. It all looks very lovely. Have a great weekend. Blessings, Pamela
The room is gorgeous! Love the table setting, especially that box! Blessings ~Sara
Your new blue is gorgeous. I have been looking for the perfect blue for my hall bathroom and as soon as I clicked on your post I fell in love. I am also looking for the 50's blue that I picture in my mind, but have trouble finding at the paint store. I will run right now to Walmart to check it out. Oh, and love that you brought back the box. One of my favorites!
It's good to see you post.
This table is just plain lovely all on its own, but against the wall color, it is even more so.
As is usual when I visit here, I love it.
I am into simple these days, so your table really appeals to me.
Blue really looks wonderful in your dining room, it makes so light and airy.
Aww! That is so sweet to bring the box back in honor of Katherine! I love your blue walls, they look wonderful. Your setting is so pretty! It really has such a soft and fresh look to it. I always enjoy seeing your beautiful tablescapes. So glad to see you scaping again. You are such an inspiration!
The blue in the room is very pretty. I too love it with the gray. The napkins are wonderful pieces. Great table.. xo marlis
Anita,
I really like your blue! Your room is so lovely. So envious π Your table looks lovely as always. I have a very similar runner that I bought a few weeks ago. You can see it in one of my previous posts. Happy July 4th!
Stunning tablescape, Anita. I love your blog–great style, beautiful photos, fabulous decor to work with. I've awarded you the Sunshine Award. You can learn more about it at my blog onceuponafirefly.blogspot.com. Congratulations!

Love your room. Great job. Beautiful flowers. Thing I love most is your beautiful, shiny, wood floors. π

What a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy the meal.
The room is so spacious and I am sure, you had so many hours mingling with your family and friends in here.
Happy w/end.

I'm a fan of your box, too. The new blue is just beautiful; it does look really nice with the grey trim. The table does have a vintage look which is very appealing. That Indiana Glass Whitehall pattern has turned out to be one of my favorites. I found my first light blue iced tea just this week. I've never seen the pink in person, but will certainly keep my eyes open for it now.
