Hi everyone! I wanted to share some pillows I have been making over the past few months. I honestly love to put different fabrics together, and this winter I made these to replace the tartan ones I had for Christmas. The little ruffle is a flour sack stripe my mom gave me.
I had added the light aqua color because of this inspiration photo from Charles Edwards in the UK.
And my room looked like this…
When summer came, I replaced the red Persian rug with a blue one and wanted something a little more vintage tropical and summery. I kept the blue pillows, then made these to coordinate.
I really wanted to throw in a little mid-century style, so after covering this square one, I added the button.
I think it works really well with the mid-century double lampshade and the shape of this chair.
Not sure what I will do for the upcoming fall season, but I’m loving these for now.
I really, really wanted to show my kitchen makeover, but I just have not gotten photos yet. Maybe when the three children start back to school this week, I will find time to do that.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I was really excited to reach 200 followers on my Far Above Rubies facebook page so if you have not been by there, I would love for you to stop by. The link is on the sidebar.

Hi Anita, You are working so hard….pardon the pun but your pillows are "Far Above" the English inspiration. I love all the fabrics and colors and mixing elegance with textured fabrics and just frilly ruffle trim. The rosette on the tweed wool fabric is spectacular. My grandmother made pillows with different fabrics, trims, and patterns. You are so talented and have gifted vision. Thank you for your inspiration and sharing. The crimson and fabrics are perfect for Fall transition:)!!!
I just bought a pillow cover at Pottery Barn today and now I'm thinking, why oh why didn't I just sew one. I really like how you've incorporated the different fabrics in the pillows to they all sort of tie together without being too matchy.
Anita, those fabric combinations are fabulous. You know I love pillows. Those are very pretty.
Love all the pillows you have made, Anita! Such beautiful fabrics. I so envy anyone who can sew. Your home always looks beautiful. XO, Pinky

Your pillows are beautiful, Anita! Love all the patterns and colors. I am a pillow fanatic and like to mix store bought with my own. However, since we are short on space since our move, I have to start making mine with an envelope closure.

Visiting from At the Picket Fence linky party, sugar. I've never been here before but I saw those pillows in the link and had to visit. I'm trying to find some pillows for my living room and yours struck me as not others had. I'm too danged lazy to make them. Do you sell pillows anywhere? Just wondering.
Nice to visit and meet you, sweetpea!
