Autumn Apples

I really wanted to do something different this year for fall as I had added so much blue over the summer. So I decided to use apples instead of pumpkins. Apples are a big crop here in Western North Carolina and I start craving them this time of year.

For the table setting, I used hand painted Fondeville New York salad plates with Mikasa “Italian Countryside” dinner plates.

I used my mom’s 1961 casual wedding stainless flatware, “White Lily” by Oneida…

Vintage Indiana Glass “Whitehall” iced tea glasses and a crochet-edged napkin. Sheets of music serve as placemats. The problem for us is we sit there reading the music.

I filled the box with my grandmother’s blue Mason jars, hydrangeas, fruit, pine cones, nuts and berries. I replaced the zinc lids with just a canning ring since I have votives in the jars.

These are just a few of the leaves that have started to turn.

You might notice I lit up the cabinet (black hole) in the corner with a work light. I got the idea from Kelly, at The Essence of Home, then I went down to my mom’s sewing room and realized she uses these same lights there. I got this one at Walmart for $7.

I attached pine cones with blue ribbon and lace from the chandelier…

I used one of the runners I have for sale in my new etsy shop, Knight’s Store.

I am loving the blue for fall, and I am super excited about Christmas because I’ll get to use all the those beautiful mid-century colors of pink and blue that my grandmother used. I can’t wait to get those Shiny Brites and bubble lights out!!

As for the apples, I also used an apple pattern on my very first blog post three years ago. You can see it here:

The setting is just gorgeous…from the sheet music, to the name cards! The work light looks great above the china cabinet; and I love the pine cones hanging from the chandelier. Your table is so beautifully decorated and set for a fall meal. I like aqua and pale blue as so many other colours can coordinate with them – like orange and red and shades of green. The work clamp light is great for a bit of industrial chic and lightens up your china cabinet. Great idea! I'm loving your new look for your home! Hugs, Pam

Ok, where do I start? First off…gorgeous table Anita! I love the apples and was thinking of doing the same thing since they are so beautiful and tasty this time of year. I love the work lamp, as well. They could probably be painted with a high heat resistant paint, as well. Your work lamp looks a little smaller than the one I have and it's perfect for where you put it. Love the centerpiece too!

So the work light…is that something you just put on top of the cabinet and direct the light downward? No knowledge of electricity needed? It was hard for me to tell from the photos. It doesn't appear to be affixed to the ceiling, though. I see where Pamela called it a "clamp light." Does that mean it clamps to something? If it's just sitting on top, I think you may have just answered the question to a problem I've been trying to conquer in my own house for some time now! LOVE the sheet music placemats and the apple placecard holders!!!!!!!! FABULOUS runner, too! I really admire the way you're able to make that cool wooden box take on so many different personas. You know just what to do to breathe new life into it every time! I believe wholeheartedly in keeping items that can be used in a multitude of ways limited only by my imagination. The pinecones hanging from the light fixture is a great touch, too. VERY pretty!

Anita, I just LOVE this tablescape! The use of the blue is so unexpected but BEAUTIFUL! I love the work light shining on the corner cabinet too. I noticed that right away. I promise I will be sharing alot more of the house soon. As I get the rooms put together……it is ALOT of work. Nothing is where it was in the old house, LOL. XO, Pinky

Oh my gosh! Breathtaking! I couldn't decide which imagine to pin ~ your centerpiece box being my favorite! Love how you decorate it seasonally… and how you tied together the aqua mason jars and the aqua pinecone ribbons (pardon the pun:) Such a lovely tablescape Anita!
