Hi everyone! We are finally really beginning to see the vibrant colors that make western NC so beautiful in the fall. And to make it even better… today is drizzly, which if you know me, is my favorite kind of day.
I wanted so share some MAJOR changes around here. I sold my leather club chair and couch. I had a plan to replace them with maybe a sectional or something very clean-lined, mid-century styled and American -made. I looked online, and finally found a few couches I liked. But thinking ahead to Christmas (the economy) I knew I should just head over to my parent’s house.
I decided to bring back the early 1900s chaise lounge my grandmother had given me that belonged to my great grandmother.
Is this beautiful carving or what???
Originally upholstered in black leather, it went through several transformations, then I re-upholstered it in this creamy fabric about 10 years ago when I was going through an all white furniture phase. This was my first upholstery job.
I’m not sure if I will recover it, or leave it like this. Also involved in the switch was this antique settee I was using in the bedroom. My plan was to have it reupholstered, then when I got it in here, I liked it as is, so we’ll see. I might just add a creamy area rug. At this point, this makeover was free, and I love the smaller scale furniture in this small room. Plus, the kids all love the chaise.
This is such a great spot to enjoy the fall color outside.

It is beautiful. I just love the things you find and decorate for your home.
Anita, what beautiful pieces! You did a fabulous job on the chaise! How nice that you have so many great pieces to pull from within the family and your own home! Everything looks beautiful!
Family treasures…infinity more valuable than something new and at no cost to you! A winning combination. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
I am in love with the chaise. Lovely lines and the woodwork is something you don't see every day. And having it in front of the window to while away an hour or two…or the day ;)…is perfect!
I think this is a perfect fit for your current decor Anita. I love the chaise and the fabric on it. Enjoy the drizzly day. Blessings, Pamela
that chaise is just amazing, and you did a wonderful job with it. so glad you can find a spot for it, it definitely needs to be center stage!
It's so beautiful Anita! You did an amazing first time upholstery job. I think I would spend most of my days perched right there looking out those beautiful windows. Just gorgeous!
I love family treasures, they're the best things I own! The chaise is lovely and you decorated it gorgeously with all the heirlooms and from your own…I find that, that's when things come out the best. Big hugs,
FABBY
What a gorgeous family heirloom that chaise lounge is! I think it fits just right by that lovely window! What a fantastic "free" make-over!! Enjoy the drizzly day.
Blessings,

So beautiful!
The chaise is beautiful! And it looks perfect and cozy by the window!
what a great family piece! And what a wonderful spot for it. To think of the generations sitting and daydreaming on it.
I think it is fabulous that you have access to these HEIRLOOMS. You did an awesoe job on the chaise. The carving on it is beautiful indeed. I truly treasure all the things I ahve gotten from my in-laws. I wish my Mom had had anything of value but sadly she didn't. Have a BEAUTIFUL weekend, Anita. XO, Pinky
Anita, you are so blessed to have a piece from your families past…. and you are so smart to make it a part of your present! What a treasure and what a gorgeous piece!!! It looks quite at home in front of those windows! LOVE it in the white fabric!!!
It all looks inviting, cozy and comfy ~ and the neutral color of the chaise will be easy to accessorize for the seasons. Good job!
Oh, I LOVE both pieces! I don't think I'd want to recover that chaise, but no matter what it will be lovely. I love vintage pieces like that.
The chaise looks beautiful Anita. What a wonderful vintage heirloom.
