Since the Christmas decor is down and packed up, I wanted to share how I am bringing the outside in for winter.
I found this door last fall here and had planned on using it for a tabletop, then I saw this photo (left) on Pinterest. I thought the door looked amazingly like mine on the right.
So I decided to use mine in a similar way…
I wanted to add the rustic, country elements to the elegance of the buffet, so I used the burlap and muslin runner I made for Knight’s Store on etsy.
I wanted to use this box I made out of a newel post from the old house. I took it apart, left three sides and added caps at both ends. I finally decided to put my grandfather’s books inside along with some juniper sprigs and deer antlers.
The window is the same one from the old house I used at Christmas with photos of my dad and family when they lived there.
I made this candle holder of bark from a Hemlock tree that fell a couple years ago. I made it in the summer and used seashells around the candles, then in the fall I changed to acorns, etc. For winter I have used pinecones, juniper and cinnamon.
I kept the old vinegar bottle and added fresh juniper, cedar and arborvitae branches.
This is how I’m bringing the outside in for Winter…although it does’t really seem like winter here. We had several years lately with a lot of snow, but not this year.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please come over to my facebook page because we are having a lot of fun that you don’t want to miss:-)

I love the way you have brought the outdoors in. Absolutely love that old door and the box that you made ~ thank you for the inspiration
Oh now I have some good ideas from your post-I truly love the long box and the bark candle holder.
Have a good evening.
Happy New Year, Anita! Oh, my, your little door looks wonderful with the little gown hung on it. I just love the way you decorate – gorgeously!
Here's to another year of blogging!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
Your door is wonderful! And I love your runner.
Blessings to you, Amy
I don't think my comment was published! I wanted to say how beautiful everything looks, you have made everything look so cozy but with outdoor elements. I love it. No snow here either.
XO,
Jane
I love everything about this wonderful winter vignette. The newel post, photos, and all the greenery are just perfect on that beautiful buffet!
I saw these pics on Facebook and love them. You have such great ideas and aren't afraid to use them. The old door is beautiful with the nightdress hanging on it and your vignettes on the old dresser are always inspiring.
Love your winter touches, Anita! The door is perfect. You always have the most wonderful accessories!
You do an excellent job of arranging beautiful vintage vignettes. Love your door. Wreath and gown are so nice hanging on it. The gown is particularly gorgeous.
I have decided when we can find glass bottles we should keep them. Plastic is replacing all the nice glass. So sad. Greenery looks nice in the vinegar bottle.
Oh Anita… I luv it! ALL of it. The door, the newel box, the bark… You are inspiring me to bring more natural things back into my decor. I had moved away from that.. So glad you share and inspire me to welcome it all back. Will have to share pictures of what I added tot he dining room today. Mmhhmmm.
HUGS, Gee
I have looked and looked at your pictures and do love how you bring textiles, wood, and glass, etc. together. And then you knew to include the blue of that old textbook for just the right color addition. Very smart of you. Is it instinctive or do you study and study and finally figure it out? !!
I love old doors and your is so charming. Great idea for making a box out of a newel post. Makes a great holder for the old books. You have a real knack for putting together lovely vignettes.

It's beautiful, and I love the way you used the door.
Gorgeous vignettes Anita. I love all the rustic and vintage pieces. We're headed out about an hour passed you this weekend to look at some properties. Would love to find a little place in WNC.
Sweet Winter blessings to you this day, Anita.
Like the greenery that you've added inside. I think green is an awesome color and seeing it in the Winter makes me wish for Spring. She'll be here soon enough. Better get busy getting my chores finished. I still have some Christmas decorations out because family is suppose to come visit this week-end. Still need to celebrate Christmas with them. Then Lord willing everything will go into hiding till next Christmas Season.
Sure like your decorating style!
God bless,
