Updating vintage art

These are a couple of my favorite vintage prints from Florida. I have loved them for years and had them in the master bedroom before they ended up in the dining room. But I *really* wanted to use them in the hall bath and the red on the bottom print just didn’t work anymore.

So I got out some craft paint in different shades of pink and along with some white, changed the red flower to pink. At first, I didn’t think it was going to work, but a few more strokes and it came out just how I wanted it too.

And it complements the new shower curtain I made from vintage chenille, ticking and an old floral print my mom had.

Pretty easy, no-cost way to update something old. You know I love that. Let me add–this is not art that has any value in the antique or art market. You who know me know how I feel about respecting the value of art and antiques:-)

I’ll show you the whole bath makeover in another post.

So providential that you should post this, Anita. I have been thinking about some of the framed prints that I have stored here that just don't have the colors I'm using right now. I had wondered if I could give them a little face lift, and viola! There you are, doing it. Thanks.

Oh Anita, this is beautiful!! I love how you've mounted the artwork on the old frame. Great idea!! It all works so well with your pretty shower curtain.
