Burlap has been pretty hot lately so I wanted to share some of my favorite projects with you…especially since you are probably tired of seeing me in the wood shop:-)
My very first project was this old screen door that came from my grandparent’s house. After painting it the grey color I also found from their house, I covered the back with square chicken wire and burlap. Since this is where the air intake is for the heat pump, I left the burlap off the bottom, and ended up loving how it looked.
This is one of my most pinned projects on Pinterest and most shared on Hometalk. Go figure.
I really got started late playing with burlap, but really do love it for projects. I washed it for the first time outdoors in a galvanized wash tub, but I noticed how wrinkled it got and difficult to iron, so I wash it in the washing machine now and dry just a bit in the dryer, then hang dry. It is not easy to iron, but my mother gave me Rowenta professional steam iron, and that really does a great job.
I covered lamp shades…
Then I made leaves out of burlap, sheet music and buttons for Fall…
I made bows for outdoor wreaths…
I made table runners…plain
…and slipcovers with lots of ruffles.
I recovered the seats for the guys with plain burlap so they don’t have to sit in a ruffled chair:-)
I made placemats…and they worked really nicely with the vintage burlap “Raffiaware” pieces.
…and more runners
lots more runners…
some to sell in my shop…
…and some for me.
There are so many fabulous projects out there, but these are just some ideas I have had for burlap. My friend Debbie, over at Debbiedoos, is a master at crafting and has lots of great burlap ideas, so go over and browse through her blog. She is also part of the All Things Burlap Party this week so head on over for great ideas and more links.
Thanks for stopping by:-)

I’ll be joining:
You have become very creative with burlap, Anita. I do love the screen door in your kitchen and all your fabulous runners etc. The lace trim really softens the look on the runners, placemats and chair covers. Very pretty! I don't have anything burlap in my house but I enjoy seeing what others do with it. Pam
I absolutely love the looks of burlap, Anita, but I am allergic to it and it makes me itch like crazy. I grew up hauling bags of feed around in it so it is fun to see it come to "pretty places". xo Diana
Beautiful Anita and besides been creative, you are very talented too! I love ALL your work, really awesome! Big hugs,
FABBY
All of your burlap projects are charming and lovely! I really like the idea of using burlap on the old screen door.

OMGoodness, all this FABULOUS burlap! I love your runners! I want to hire you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anita those are all great projects! I too love your runners.
I love all your clever ideas and you have given me inspiration for me to make some things for our home.
I am in love with burlap. I never even knew you could prewash it until recently! Yes, I said "duh" right out loud. I'm planning to cover some kitchen chairs with it as soon as I have a pair of minutes to do it. I love yours.
I also missed all the details on the counter top so I need to go back and carefully read it all. I loved the plan when you first told about it. I've been a hit and run blogger for a while now, and I need to settle down so I can read. Ugh.
(And I also want to THANK YOU for your very kind words on my "Water Off A Duck's Back" post. I was a little nervous to put it out there and I appreciated you more than I can say. )
As to a share button, don't laugh but I have zero clue how to do that. I tried to google it, but I came up dumb and dumber. I don't know why people like me think they should start a blog… good grief.
I love it all! You are a very talented designer.
