I have never shot fireworks successfully, so when I headed out last night to shoot, Luis had already done some research for me so I had an idea what to try.
I set the camera, Canon Rebel T3, with a Canon 20 mm lens, on the tripod using manual mode, 4′ shutter speed, 100 ISO, f/11.
I took some of the photos with a 20′ shutter speed.
These are fireworks put on by the summer residents here in Balsam, and they are gorgeous against the mountains.
Basically, these are right in our back yard…no traffic or crowds.
I had to bring a jacket because it was so cold!
But it was well worth it.
There was no post editing involved.
Happy Birthday America:-)

You did a wonderful job capturing the fireworks! How beautiful Anita.
These are beautiful, Anita! There is a big Family Fourth celebration in a park, a few blocks from our home. It ends with the fireworks display every year. We just take our lawn chairs out front; and get a prime view! Like you…no crowds, no traffic! Hope you're having a great weekend!
Very, very pretty! You captured them perfectly Anita.
