I thought it was time to bring out the box and add a little bit of fall to my dining area.
I decided to add hydrangeas, pine cones, candles and the white pumpkins I painted a couple years ago.
I found this floral fabric a few months ago at my local fabric store on clearance, and really loved the blues and golds with a touch of pink, and the hydrangeas really bring those colors out. Though they aren’t the typical colors for fall, they are certainly what nature has provided for me this time of year here.
I also scattered a few paper leaves I cut from sheets of music throughout.
Most of these are either vanilla-strawberry or limelight hydrangeas and they dry so beautifully if they have already started turning green/pink. The blue ones are mopheads from last year. We didn’t have any this year due to the late freeze.
Because this box is large at 47 1/2″ long, 5 1/2″ tall and 9″ wide, I added a layer of floral foam for height, which I covered with burlap. The foam is also great for sticking the stems into.
It’s fun to have the box out again, and I always enjoy trying new ways to fill it up.
Most of all, though, I’m just enjoying the beginning of this beautiful season. Autumn is such a special time of year to me– maybe because it’s so short and I want to savor every single moment of it:-)
I’ll be joining:

I remember this beautiful box! And it looks absolutely lovely this fall with the pretty hydrangeas and fabric. So creative! And I love the sheet music place mats! I agree, fall can be so fleeting and my favorite thing to do is bring the outdoors in!
I wanted to let you know I will be in Asheville from 11/1 to 11/8. I would love to meet up if you have the time!

Beautiful!! I luv your box 🙂
In my entry, I filled my white planter box with the same… dried hydrangea blooms, I had an abundance this season, a few pinecones, white tapers, and a couple of white pumpkins. Great minds and all that….
Luv your dining room!
Your box makes a gorgeous centerpiece with all of nature's beauty you've gathered together!

Wow !! I love love this room! I just found your blog! How fun:)
Magnificent! Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!!! Every element complements all the other so well. Seeing your bench in the dining room just rekindles my desire for the same in ours. I think Ramon is weakening….I may have it in the new year! 🙂
I thought about you recently when I pulled out one of three wood boxes I saved when I moved. I wish I would have kept the other 2. At the time I saw no need. Talk about hindsight being 20/20! As always you've done a spectacular job of adorning yours and making it fit like a glove with the other decor in the room. I love how it's just brimming with flowers and fabric and seasonal produce!!!
I hope you are having a wonderful and relaxed weekend. Take care!
Beautiful! I love that old box and the pretty things you filled it with.
