Winter Dining Room

Finally, all the Christmas decor is down and I have enjoyed a blank slate to play with. As much as I love Christmas decor and hate to take it down, I always look forward to something a little less cluttered for winter.

Since I used so much brass and gold for most of last year, I decided to use silver and crystal.

I brought out my great grandmother’s cruet set and some inherited vintage silver and crystal pieces.

The red nandina berries are the only pop of color.

A Balsam branch in a vintage vinegar bottle keeps the room wintry.

Silver platters replaced the plates on the old door.

I have a kind of obsession with empty candle holders and this vintage Fostoria “Baroque” set is perfectly at home beside the equally empty silver punch bowl from  Spain:-)

I love the clean look of this punch bowl and how it contrasts with the older, more ornate pieces.

I tried about 15 different options on the buffet and the table then knew this look was *it* when I finally figured it out.

There are so many opportunities ahead for color and accessories, that I am seriously embracing this area this way — for now:-)

Your dining room is so pretty. I love the silver and crystal and how it is displayed. In fact you gave me and idea to use some of my crystal with my mercury glass on my mantle. Thank you!

I pulled out my tarnished vintage silver as well. Now this is spurring me to get out some crystal to accompany it. Luvly Anita!!

Anita, I love this look! I love a very simple decor after Christmas. I like a separation between the riots of color for Christmas and Spring. It just has a clean, uncluttered look before the bright colors erupt all around us. Beautiful!!!

What you have is perfect for the winter months…very simple yet so elegant and refined with your heirlooms. I love your table. Keeping the candle pieces empty is so inspiring.

    Happy January! 🙂

Lovely, Anita! I, too, always enjoy simplicity after the holidays. I did a post on my winter china cabinet, but I'm sure I'll be changing that soon too, for something less colorful. All your pieces are lovely, but that punch bowl is gorgeous! ~Zuni
