Last week I shared the new drop cloth curtains in the music room, so here is a peek at how they look in the living room.
Here is how the french doors looked before with the fabric shades I made several years ago.
What a difference these curtains make! They really draw the eye upward and make the room ceiling seem higher than it is, which is a good thing in this small house.
I also love the softness the fabric adds to the room.
We don’t ever use these doors, but it’s easy enough to pull back the drape when needed.
If you are wondering about the lamp…my dad made this lamp out of copper years ago and I decided to try using it with an Edison bulb and no shade. I have a larger bulb, but 60 watts was too much for a bare bulb, and the only one I could find in a 40 watt version, was this shape.
This is what the base looks like. I have always loved this lamp and the handmade, one of a kind quality it has.
Like I said before, this is a change I’m so glad I just went ahead and made. I have been thinking about it for a while and am really enjoying it:-)

Your home is so lovely and inviting. I had heard about using drop cloths for curtains love the way yours warm up the room.
Wow…how did I miss this post!….Love the drapes Anita…as you said it certainly has made a beautiful difference in the room. I love the new look. The copper lamp that your dad made is amazing…how so very special to have such a piece…and I love the fact that you did not use a shade as it showcases the beautiful lamp even more!
