I shared some of the outside blooms last week, so I thought I’d share what’s “blooming” inside the house.
I stripped everything back to lots of white after Christmas with a few hot pink accents, and the bright color really grew on me, so I kept adding more and more.
I found a vendor on ebay in India that sells vintage silk sarees, so I bought three. They were unbelievable at $13.99 per with free shipping! They were here in less than a week and were in beautiful shape with about 5-7 yards of fabric in each. You just cannot buy this much beautiful silk fabric at a fabric store for this price, so this was an incredible bargain for some gorgeous fabric.
I chose three that were similar in color and have mixed them together all through the house.
I have been using them literally everywhere. I cut them up and made pillows, shams, table toppers, sink skirts — you name it, and I made it.
I added some other fabric with similar colors.
Of course, that meant some other things were changed or moved around to accommodate the new colors…
…like the sweet lamp above my friend Krista sent me, and the one below, my friend Bonnie gave me. Once I started changing things around I knew these two lamps would be perfect.
The addition of bright colors and accessories have brought kind of a Bohemian “well-traveled” vibe to my vintage family heirlooms.
Who would have thought my great grandmother’s wool rug would blend so well with the rich colors in this mostly green sari?
A mid-century chalkware lamp of my grandmother’s looks right at home.
Brass, brass, and more brass:-)
One of the sarees had a lot of dark blue…
…and that inspired me to pull out the blue willow that has been put away for a few years, as well as some other favorites, including this Pyrex bowl my mother gave me and the rice bowls I bought in Japan.
More brass and a vintage needlepoint mix with blue and white and pull it all together.
And that is just a peek at a few of the spring touches inside the house. I am really loving the addition of the vibrant pink, gold, blue and green as they have really livened up the gray and white walls and will be so nice and happy throughout summer. And we all need a little “happy” don’t we!
I’ll be joining:
I'm loving all the gorgeous fabric you bought off of eBay! How creative you are to use it as pillows, etc.!
