Bohemian chic summer dining

Hi everyone! Thank you to those of you who left encouraging comments after my surgery. I am recovering just fine, but we have been so busy with ministry, a TV show, and community activities, it’s been hard to get posts done. But, I’m back now, and I want to get the rest of my summer decorating posts up so I can finish up with a home tour — before fall arrives:-) First up is my dining room, and, as in the rooms you’ve already seen, I have infused a little “Bohemian-chic” flair into this room as well.

Of course, hot pink takes center stage again, and this time in the runner I made from antique Chinese silk. I wanted something different for the vintage Indian brass and crystal punch bowl, so instead of cut flowers, I opted for potted gerbera daisies right from the garden section. I can’t remember what the yellow flower is, but I wanted yellow with the pink, so into my cart two pots of it went.  I love this fresh organic look so much, and it fills the bowl nicely without looking too predictable or fussy.

Spanish moss, which I have been using for years, covers dirt and fills in any gaps.

Behind the table, another silk runner gives the antique buffet some much-needed color.

I have used antique brass all over the house, and the dining room is no exception. I have added crystal and glass for some sparkle, and of course plants help achieve that eclectic Bohemian feel.

I am a big fan of these brass “bamboo” trays and found this one very inexpensively on ebay.

Y’all know me and my vintage, so this 1965 clock radio pretty much stays here year-round as I enjoy listening to music on NPR when I’m working around the house.

These are the frames I painted last year to coordinate with the frame on the large print my grandmother painted years ago. (She painted the frame not the print.) My absolute favorite photo of my great grandmother is between more family photos. The little faux deer heads are at least 60 years old, and probably older. My grandmother always had them on her mantel, so when my mother found them this year, I had to hang them up.

I just love having a door from the old house propped up to add some texture and interest, and this one is a perfect spot for some more sparkle with painted brass frames.

It makes this into a nice little gallery wall for summer that’s interesting, but not too cluttered.

I am loving the versatility this room has with just a few simple changes. Quite honestly, the addition of the pink just makes me so happy I can’t stand it. Really, I do love it so much and the unexpected hue makes an otherwise brown and white room unique. I love to try the unexpected–both in accessories and in color. You can always change it if you don’t like it, and chances are, you’ll fall in love with it.

I will be back throughout this week with the living and music rooms, then onto a summer home tour, so please come back by for another visit.

Your dining room looks beautiful, Anita! That touch of Bohemian style is just perfect and those pink silk runners go a long way toward the look. The large painting by your grandmother looks quite Bohemian in its own right too. It is all wonderfully simple yet elegant.

I'm glad you're recovering well! I really like the pink and brass touches. I was in your area over the weekend, so beautiful! It was hard passing up the flea markets and sales, but my husband and I were on our motorcycle, and didn't have any extra room πŸ™ Next time we will be in a car lol
