Coffee and beautiful cookies for the first day of Spring

I have a friend, Alicia, who is always posting photos of the most gorgeous cookies, so when she offered to let me choose some, I jumped at the chance!

See what I mean? I thought they would be perfect for the first day of Spring.

How cute is this lace owl? She does all this by hand.

I’ve seen her decorate them for all occasions and seasons. They would be so pretty for a bridesmaids’ lunch or shower, or even a birthday party.  They would make the most adorable favors for a wedding also.

I decided to set up a coffee and cookie buffet to welcome the new season.

Noritake “Shenandoah” bone china, with its delicate floral pattern, is the perfect back drop for these beautifully decorated cookies.

Monogramed napkins were passed down from a relative.

My youngest daughter’s pewter monogramed baby cup makes the perfect holder for a small bouquet of flowers.

The Fisher Silversmiths sterling coffee pot, cream and sugar were also passed down from a relative, and on loan from my mother.

I dressed up a $4 grocery store bouquet with Mountain Fire Pieris from the yard, and tucked it all into an antique silver wine cooler.

I have to say, as gorgeous and intricately decorated as these cookies are, they taste even better, if that’s possible.  I’m so very grateful to Alicia for sharing her gift with us.

What a great way to welcome Spring:-)

Well — this is actually how we welcomed Spring!

Anita, Love the pink tea set-up. Beautiful, and the silver is so shiny and clean. It takes work to keep silver cleaned up. Love it tho. It is an awesome tea table.

Yes Grace, my mother always lets me know if something is not clean, lol! Since the sterling set is hers, I polished it up before taking photos. Thank you:-)

Anita, those are the prettiest cookies. I can't begin to imagine how she does this and how much time it must take. I don't think I'd want to eat them. Your beautiful flowers in the silver pieces make a gorgeous vignette. What is that wonderful white bloom? Is that the Pierie from your yard. It is gorgeous!

I know Sarah, I didn't want to eat one, then when I opened up the cellophane wrappers, they smelled so good I could not wait. She does them as gifts, which is just amazing to me!

Yes, the white is the mountain fire pieris. I use it all year for things, but I think it's prettiest in the spring.

Your spring tea setting is absolutely gorgeous, Anita. Noritake has some lovely patterns and your Shenandoah is so very pretty. Those cookies are wonderful! All the fine silver is fabulous too. Every thing is perfect. Happy Spring to you!

Thank you Lynn! Someone gave that Noritake set to my mom, and I had wanted to use it, then thought it was perfect with the cookies:-)

Simply beautiful, Anita! Your buffet vignette for tea time is lovely. Your china and flowers are gorgeous!
The cookies are a work of art, as good as they look I'd hate to eat them… I eat only 'ugly' cookies, lol..
    Happy Spring and happy Easter.
