I had the amazing opportunity to not only design the mantels I shared last week, but also to create some outdoor fall displays at Balsam Mountain Preserve. In keeping with the rustic aspect of the property, and the natural habitat, I wanted to put something together that was simple, all natural and reflected local culture.
Here at the front entrance, I simply added two similar, but not the same, displays to each end of the fence with bales of straw, local produce and mums.
I made bows from fabric, as always, and love the shape they take. I started with burlap ribbon, then added three different fabrics all cut with pinking shears. I love using fabric instead of ribbon because it provides so many more options, and I like how the bows drape.
On the other side, I created a similar look.
Next up was the sales office, and I went really minimalist with corn stalks and three pumpkins.
On up the mountain to the main security gate, I repeated the same process.
There is also an outdoor fireplace and mantel here I’ll share in another post.
I can’t wait for the leaves to turn in this spot because the maple tree here always puts on an amazing show of color.
Next up was the pavilion which houses the fitness center, snack bar, golf pro shop and pools. This is a BMP photo from several years ago, and you can see how magnificent it’s going to look in a few weeks.
I tried to keep everything pretty similar between each location.
Last, was the Boarding House, which includes a restaurant with amazing views, I’ll also share later.
At the front entrance, I added a variety of mums, ornamental kale, etc., and pumpkins. This is where the mantels are I did last week.
Again, when the leaves really change, this will be a spectacular place to enjoy the season.
And here you can see the view off the back porch as it will look in a few weeks. Pretty awesome, hmm? I’ll be shooting some tablescapes here soon so you can be sure I’m going to enjoy that.
This is a beautiful place, so if you are looking for a second home or an amazing first home in the mountains, definitely check it out.
I’ll be joining:
