There are so many reasons I love this season, but one of my favorite is how the light changes and becomes so much more intense.
I am, oddly enough since I’m a musician, a morning person. I love to get up before everyone else and enjoy the first of many cups of black coffee before the sun even rises. After I get everyone off to school and work, I enjoy the ambience of sunlight streaming into the house before getting started on my daily activities.
My dining space is small, but I think it has big impact. I changed out the centerpiece a couple days ago, and it looked so pretty in the light I wanted to share.
I remembered the vintage brass candelabras my mom had so I borrowed them and simply layered some white pumpkins, magnolia leaves and pine cones on an old board.
So simple, but big impact.
I made the runner years ago and after years of being put away, it just seemed perfect here.
I really like to layer things, and if any wax drips, it will be on the wood and not my runner. Plus it makes what’s in the center an actual centerpiece and keeps things unified.
I also changed some other things and added the painted photo of my great grandmother and a brass plaque.
And the leaves. I love bringing in leaves from outside, and these oak leaves were so pretty I added them to an old vinegar jug.
I also brought back the antique print that was in the old house here. It is one of my favorite and I loved the fall colors it added here as well as the warmth of the amazing gold frame.
This little space just makes me smile.
It really is *the little things* that are important:-)

I love that runner. Perhaps I might borrow it sometime!
What a very pretty room. Love it, and your fall table centerpiece with the beautiful runner is to die for!!!!!
Simply elegant centerpiece anchored by that beautiful runner….I so love your dining room Anita. It seems as if it is so filled with such warmth and love and a most wonderful place for friends and family to gather.
Talk about gorgeous!!! The simplicity of it somehow makes it so grand!!! Very smart idea to layer up with a board that won’t suffer if it gets candle wax on it. I also really love the oak branches. This is just an amazing creation! Anyone walking into your home couldn’t help but to feel welcome and enticed to the table.
What a beautiful space! Love the layering and color!
