I always say when you have been thinking about doing something for a while, you might as well go ahead and do it. Especially if it’s something reversible and low cost.
I’ve wanted to add a little drama to this wall for a while, so I actually was playing with one of those online apps where you paint your room, and next thing I knew, I was buying paint.
I knew I wanted a dark gray, and it needed to coordinate with the “Grand Smoky Mountain” gray I have on my trim and cabinetry.
I found this “Dark Umber” color in the Kilz Collection at Walmart and had it mixed in the Colorplace paint, which I use a lot, and it fit all the criteria for my room, so up it went.
It’s a warm dark gray, but not too dark.
I. Am. Loving. It.
I had the overdyed rug layered with a Baluch rug, but decided to take them up for summer.
And that was a great decision as well. I love my rugs, but something about the bare floor really opened up this small space. Plus it’s SO much easier if we are eating here.
I had this curtain from years ago, and because I am waiting on a vintage sari from India to hang there, tried this out and loved it as well. It’s dark, moody, a little glam and just provides enough contrast.
I am absolutely in love with the little bit of drama I have here now, and all it cost was a gallon of Walmart paint. Really, how can you go wrong with that?
And there’s a lot more drama going on around here as well, so be sure to follow along on instagramand facebook.
A dramatic look is just perfect for a dinning room. It is a great color.
Thanks so much Debra!!
oooh i LOVE it with all of your jewel tones! i had charcoal in my dining room once and loved it but with it being open to the kitchen ours makes more sense in white…. but i loved those moody walls!
Yeeeeees! That is what drew me to your blog — and the seascapes:-)
Hmmm. Gorgeous. The room looks so rich.
Thank you so much Beverley!
Beautiful !!!
Thank you Autumn!!
This is very similar in color to our kitchen/dining room space and I love it! It definitely adds drama & I have a great little white hutch for my china in there-it really pops against it!
