I am all about Autumn over here and when given the chance to set an Autumn-themed alfresco table, I’m a happy girl π
I’m even more excited to be part of this wonderful group of bloggers with beautiful ideas for fall hosted by Angie at Postcards From the Ridge. There will be links at the bottom for you to visit everyone so you don’t miss anything!
We are fortunate to live in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina on land that has been in my family for five generations. It’s such a magical area, and we enjoy eating outside on the porch whenever the weather is nice.
I love alfresco tables, especially as it starts to cool down because it means those pesky bugs find somewhere else to go, and the cooler temps here in the mountains make everything outdoors so much more pleasant.
The inspiration for this table was my vintage McCoy Brown Drip dinnerware. There is something about the earthiness of this brown pottery that I love this time of year, and I have been adding to this collection for about 15 years. McCoy pottery was made in Ohio starting in the early 20th Century, and Brown Drip is one of the most popular patterns. It is easily available here at antique malls and generally not too pricey.
I chose a dark woven charger that I have had for years, napkins from Pier 1 Imports, and Mikasa Italian Countryside flatware.
The iridescent glassware also came from Pier 1 about 15 years ago.
I very rarely buy anything new, but I do buy cloth napkins because we use them exclusively, so when I saw these striped cotton napkins on clearance, I purchased them online and went to the store to pick them up. Then I saw the velvet/beaded runner, which was 70% off, so I knew it would be perfect paired with the brown dinnerware and striped napkins.
We usually grow a few pumpkins and varieties of squash, but this year my parents only had their smaller garden, so I picked up a basket at the WNC Farmers Market last Monday.
For the tablecloth, I used upholstery fabric I had on hand and added orange velvet pillows to the benches.
I found the iron candelabra at Balsam Antique Mall here a month or so ago when I went to look for antique cooking utensils and had to bring it home.
I love how colorful this table looks surrounded by all the green. Although there are few leaves changing here and there, the real color will peak here mid to late October.
In the meantime, we can enjoy the cooler days, clear skies and fresh air.
Thanks so much for coming by! Please come back Friday for my Fall Home Tourππ

Wow – this outdoor setting is stunning. You are so fortunate to have real pumpkins this early too! Your color palette is just perfect for your vintage McCoy.
Yes, I was so happy to find them! They are usually coming in the end of August here, but seemed a little later this year.
Anita, you table looks like heaven. So lucky to have a place in NC and eat outdoors in the crisp air. I live in Pittsburgh and have traveled to Zanesville, Ohio many times for beautiful pottery and now I think I need to start looking for this beautiful pattern.
Thank you!! Wow, how amazing is that! We have lots of this here in NC as well as the Hull version.
WOW! What time is dinner? Your table is stunning and the setting is beautiful. I LOVE the brown dripware and all of the rich colors. It all looks so dreamy. Thanks so much for joining the tour!
Thank you so very much, and thanks for inviting me on the tour!!
Your tablescape and it's setting are magical! I love your brown dripware and the beautiful fall colors that you used for your table. I hadn't thought about brown dripware in years and seeing your reminded me that my aunt had that pattern when I was a child. You have a beautiful spot for enjoying meals outdoors and I hope that you get to spend lots of time out there this fall.
Thank you so much!! We had several pieces of it when I was growing up, then I started seeing the plates at antique malls and had to start collecting:-)
This space is just so incredible. And your Mikasa dishes are absolute perfection for fall…I've always loved their stuff. Loving all of the incredible touches you've added to your table. And who doesn't want to dine al fresco? Lovely
Thanks so much Kristi!! The plates are actually "Brown Drip" by McCoy, and the flatware is Mikasa:-)
Every time I look at your blog, I know immediately whose blog is my very favorite! We love the same colors, styles, etc. Please, can you tell me where I could find the table runner. BTW, I don't delete your blogs, I keep them for a long time, just to enjoy your beautiful home. I live in NM but sure love NC, my daughter lives there.
Oh goodness, thank you for those kind words! The runner was on clearance at Pier 1 Imports:-)
This is absolutely stunning! Now I want to host Thanksgiving Dinner outside! ~Randi/Dukes and Duchesses
