Hello everyone! This is the season I look forward to all year, so I love to create every little bit of pretty I can to reflect autumn in all it’s colorful glory, and the front porch is no exception.
As in years past, I’ve used only things I had, grew in the garden or could forage from around the property including pumpkins, gourds, flowers, corn stalks and lots of pretty leaves.
I saved this Indian corn from several year sago and just hang it in daddy’s old garage until I bring it out again in the fall. I don’t grow it here now because corn will most definitely cross pollinate during the growing season, and I don’t want that to happen with the silver queen we eat.
I love this little entry to the porch, and I filled an old basket with pumpkins, squash, etc., and added a homemade bow to the corn stalks.
I gathered some weeds, leaves and marigolds to make the arrangement in the wagon wheel hub. I’ve placed a small vase inside to hold water.
I made the pillow covers last year out of scrap fabric to add a festive fall touch to the Hitchcock rockers.
This was my first year growing birdhouse gourds, and what a harvest I had! Now to find some winter crafts to use them for.
For the front steps I went with a very simple display of pumpkins and gourds from the garden and one vase of flowers in an old watering can.
I do love the green and orange color combo this year especially.
This season just goes by WAY too fast for me, but I certainly get a lot of joy out of it while it’s here! It was as much fun to gather everything for the porch as it was to style it, and it reminds me of how thankful I am for the beautiful land we are blessed to live on:-)
I have the fall/harvest kitchen coming next week so be sure to subscribe to the blog as well as my youtube channel. There are actually a couple new videos up – one sharing the fall living room, and a new one with the fall porch and some beautiful and relaxing footage of our beautiful area all in its autumn best. Be sure to watch!
So beautiful Anita. This should be in a magazine.

Thank you so much Kimberly!
Hi Anita! Your Autumn porch is beautiful! This definitely has inspired me. I love your use of natural elements for your beautiful decor…you know that’s what I was raised up around! Now that I think of it Anita, I think that’s one of the reason’s I feel so connected to you, you take me back to my younger years and how I was raised. To me, it just doesn’t get any better than that! Happy Autumn sweet friend 🧡

Aww Carol thank you so very much🙏🙏🙏❤️ And of course we share a name as well – although spelled slightly different with an e at the end😊😊
Hello Anita
As ever, your truly beautiful blog posts bring comfort in stressful times in life and ministry. Always so gorgeous and inspiring. And I love the videos too! Thankyou so much.I would love to see the ongoing transformation of your home in a book (about the same size and texture as Farrow & Ball’s ‘Living with Colour’).
I am also a keen gardener and am collecting jars for when I’ll have the time to start canning. For the time being I just slice and bag everything in the freezer, which is a good start.
Many blessings
Vicky

Anita, I loved the opening poem and aerial footage. How very majestic. It is amazing that you can harvest your land for the gourds and pumpkins. This was an inspiring video. Thank you for posting it.

Thank you so much Susan!! Yes I’m thankful we have a garden here, and all the hard work has been worth it with the harvest☺️☺️
I envy the beautiful colors of Fall the north experiences this time of year. Living in Florida we still have one color: green and Fall is very subtle. You are decidedly enjoying the “fruits” of your labors.
