Hello friends! I wanted to share my fall harvest porch as we enter this month of Thanksgiving. I used only things I had here, grew in the garden or foraged from the yard and woods to decorate. I almost didn’t get the porch decorated because I desperately needed to pressure wash it, but was able to get that done when it was warm last Saturday, then add a few festive touches before the deep freeze this week to take us through Thanksgiving.
My sweet kitty cat is a rescue from the set of Unto These Hills in Cherokee where my youngest daughter was an audio engineer for her summer job, so he decided to pose for a photo:-)
I always cut oak leaves when they turn red to use inside the house, and they dry so nicely, I just brought them out here on the porch. I made the bows as I always do with scraps of fabric.
I really wanted to use the blue pillows I’ve had for years – since the Carolina blue sky is a staple of fall, and just paired them with some orange pillows I had.
I grew lots of gourds, pumpkins and squash in the garden specifically to use out here and to feed the chickens.
For the steps, I just arranged some more of the produce and gathered some wildflowers and marigolds from the garden for a free fall arrangement instead of spending money on mums.
I love how it all looks at night with the lights on.
For us, a festive fall porch is just a reminder of the bountiful harvest we had this year and also a reminder to be thankful for all the blessings we have:-)
I know everyone has moved on to Christmas, but I really want to stop and take this month to focus on gratitude and just savor this beautiful season while it lasts. I hope you will take a few moments to do the same friends:-)
There is a video of the porch plus some beautiful drone footage around the house, as well as some bonus footage of beautiful Lake Logan near here. Make sure to subscribe to my channel for all the Thanksgiving and Christmas content coming!
