I have to say once July 4th is past, I start looking forward to cooler weather, even though I know it’s a long way off! It just seems like things naturally start to gear into harvest season and getting things ready for winter.
Y’all know I love to change out my dinnerware seasonally, and I thought I’d do something different this year. I got out the Currier and Ives dishes because this color blue is the perfect accompaniment to my vintage blue Mason jars and a cool counterpart for the warm tones of fall.
I love blue with the warm colors of autumn, and this pattern just seemed right at home as we head into this season.
The inspiration was really this old ammo box my grandfather had made into a shoe-shining box. I used it in some tablescapes years ago, but had not had it out in forever.
I simply added dill and butterfly weed to the blue jars and an interesting and vibrant color palette was born.
I’ll share about the runner more later, but I fell in love with the brown floral fabric last winter and made a runner using some coordinating fabrics for a farmhouse look.
Blue Fostoria Heritage is the perfect glassware for this tablescape as well, paired with napkins I bought from amazon last year. We always use cloth napkins, so I add to my stash occasionally as I find something I like. These have all the colors including the blue shade.
Everyday flatware is Oneida American Harmony that I have had for years.
I enjoy having the oil lamps from the old house always on the table, and they come in really handy when the power goes out here.
I definitely think I’ll be ordering bulbs for the butterfly weed, because I LOVE these, and there are not many here.
I love this combination of colors, and am enjoying this late summer table. I’ve only used these dishes around Christmas and winter, but I realized so many of the designs are not even winter, so they are cozy and perfect to head into fall!
Do you change out your dinnerware too? It’s such a great way to get a new look for free, and you get to really enjoy your collection:-)

Thanks Mother!
Lovely table as always! My mother in law had this dinner ware and used it as long as I can remember. I always loved it, (maybe because it is blue and white). It is so pretty with fall colors and Currier and Ives scenes are so iconic and reminiscent of our past. Not hurrying summer along, but looking forward to more fall colors and cooler weather!

Thank you Carolyn!!
Exactly – I love to add the colors back into my decor, but actual fall decor – pumpkins, etc., will not be until September;-)
I so adore your styling…the oil lamps just are the perfect lighting. And ! I was so surprised to see the horse and carriage on your dishes. Since we have horses and carriages I am always on the look for such treasures. Your fabrics are always right on, and I love the chair seat covers. I guess now I will have to get my sewing machine back out. Your work is always so inspiring !
hugs!

Thank you so much Alda!! Funny enough, I made these for some Duncan Phyfe chairs I had, and I’ve used them on the last two sets I’ve had as well. They are very versatile:-)
Lovely photos, and I so love all the blue and white…! Very much enjoyed your post, Sandi

I’m with you, LOVE LOVE LOVE Fall!! Yesterday I made french onion soup and pulled out my Hull brown drip crocks to use and my daughter mentioned I must be in a fall mood. Sure am! Ready for cool air, pumpkins and all those beautiful vibrant colors. Your table is beautiful and your kitchen is so incredibly warm and cozy!! What is the orange plant in your center piece? Agree the colors are so good.

Thank you so much Linda!! I usually get the Hull/ McCoy out right after July 4th, because I’m just ready for those warm brown tones:-) That is butterfly weed:-)
I appreciate how you have taken the blue china and woven in the orange and red with lamp light for a late summer table. Ready for dinner! Charming and inviting.

The table settings and decor are beautiful together. I like those color combinations; they are my favorite. What is the dinnerware that you have? It is absolutely beautiful and I’ve seen it before yet cannot recall the name/brand. I love it all! Ordering the napkins for my table and some of the butterfly weed bulbs!
